General
How the process works, no matter which product you buy.
How long does a takedown take?
We file the same day you approve the drafted notice. After filing, timing is up to the recipient. Major platforms often act within days, sometimes faster. Smaller hosts can take longer, and a few do not comply at all.
The law requires hosts to act "expeditiously" once they receive a proper notice, but it sets no fixed deadline. We follow up until the case resolves, and we keep you posted along the way.
Which platforms and sites do you cover?
Any site, host, or platform that accepts DMCA notices: social platforms, streaming services, marketplaces, search engines, web hosts, and standalone websites. For US-based recipients the process is standardized under 17 U.S.C. 512.
Foreign hosts vary in how they respond. During case review we tell you honestly if a target looks uncooperative, before you pay for a filing.
What do you need from me to start?
Three things: the link to the infringing copy, a link to your original work, and your contact details. During case review we may ask for more, for example proof of ownership or release documentation, if the case needs it.
What is the perjury statement in the notice?
A valid DMCA notice must include a statement, made under penalty of perjury, that you are authorized to act on behalf of the copyright owner and that the information in the notice is accurate. It also includes your statement that you have a good-faith belief the use is not authorized by the owner, its agent, or the law.
These are your statements, not ours. That is why only you can approve the notice before it is filed.
Why do I have to approve the notice myself?
Because the notice carries your legal representations. A knowingly false statement in a takedown notice can make you liable for damages under 17 U.S.C. 512(f), including the other side's costs and attorneys fees.
No one can make those statements on your behalf without your review. The approval click is always yours, and it can never be automated away. Read how takedowns work for the full process.
What happens if the uploader files a counter-notice?
The uploader can dispute your notice by filing a counter-notification with the host. The host will generally restore the content 10 to 14 business days after forwarding the counter-notice to you, unless you file a court action against the uploader within that window.
If this happens, we notify you immediately, explain the timeline, and lay out your options. We are not a law firm and cannot file suit for you; that step would require a licensed attorney.
Do you guarantee the content will be removed?
No. We guarantee diligent, professional filing and follow-up. We do not guarantee that any specific copy will come down, how fast a recipient will act, or that removed content will not reappear somewhere else.
Anyone who promises a guaranteed removal is promising something no filing service can control. Recipients make their own decisions.
What is your refund policy?
Takedown fees are non-refundable once case review has started, because human review work begins immediately. The exception: qualifying Standard cases carry a money-back assurance, confirmed during case review before you pay, with exclusions stated up front.
Subscription fees are non-refundable for the current billing period once charged. You can cancel a subscription at any time; cancellation takes effect at the end of the current paid period.
Is SongSure a law firm?
No. SongSure is not a law firm and does not provide legal advice. We are a filing and case-management service acting as your agent. Nothing on this site or in our communications is legal advice or a legal opinion. For legal questions about your rights, consult a licensed attorney.
Standard Takedown · $159
One straightforward case, one site.
What does Standard cover?
One standard copyright case on one site: we review the case, draft the notice, you approve it with one click, we file the same day, and we follow up with the host until the case resolves.
What is a "qualifying case" for the money-back assurance?
During case review we confirm the case is a standard, actionable infringement with an identifiable and generally cooperative recipient. If it qualifies and the takedown does not succeed, the fee is refunded. Any exclusions are stated before you pay, never after.
What if my case turns out to be complex?
We tell you during case review and recommend Premium or Platinum before any filing work begins. You decide whether to upgrade; nothing is filed at a tier you did not choose.
Premium Takedown · $319
Complex cases that need a closer look.
When should I choose Premium over Standard?
When the facts need deeper review: disputed ownership, an uploader pushing back with fair-use-adjacent arguments, or a host that ignored a first notice. Premium adds closer human review of the case, an escalated follow-up sequence, and multi-step correspondence with the host.
Does Premium change the approval step?
No. You still review and approve the drafted notice with one click before anything is filed. The extra work in Premium is in case review and follow-up, not in bypassing your approval.
Platinum Takedown · $479
Difficult cases and escalations.
What makes a case Platinum?
Non-standard situations: uncooperative hosts, repeat infringers who re-upload content after it is removed, and cases that need advanced escalation paths beyond routine follow-up.
What if even Platinum is not enough?
Some targets will not comply with any notice, no matter how well it is prepared. We tell you honestly when that is the situation and explain what alternatives exist, including consulting a licensed attorney about court action.
Shield & Studio · subscriptions
Ongoing monitoring: Shield $8/mo or $80/yr, Studio $12/mo or $120/yr.
What is the difference between a subscription and a one-time takedown?
One-time tiers handle a single infringement you already found. Shield and Studio monitor proactively: we scan for infringing uses of your registered content on an ongoing basis, and you get DIY takedown tools plus managed filings as described for your plan level.
How do Shield and Studio differ?
Studio covers more domains (50, versus 3 on Shield), adds enhanced profiles, and gives you priority case review when you need a filing. Both include premium badges, content monitoring and scanning, tracked badge IDs, DIY takedown tools, and a creator profile.
Can I cancel anytime?
Yes. Cancellation takes effect at the end of the current billing period. The current period is non-refundable once charged.
What is the free Badge?
A protection badge for your website across 3 domains, free forever. Keep it registered for 30+ days and you qualify for one free Standard takedown, subject to case review.
New Artist Bundle · $159/yr
Protect the name, then protect the work.
What is in the bundle?
The Shield annual plan plus one Standard takedown credit, with the free artist name check up front. It is built for artists at the start of the release cycle: clear the name first, then keep the work protected all year.
When can I use the takedown credit?
Anytime during your bundle year. The same process applies: case review, your one-click approval of the drafted notice, then same-day filing.
Release Shield · $79
Per-release protection for the release cycle.
How does Release Shield work?
It covers one release, a track, video, or merch line: a name check plus 90 days of monitoring from the release date. If infringement shows up during the window, you get a Standard takedown at the discounted rate of $129 instead of $159.
What happens after the 90 days?
Monitoring for that release ends. You can protect the next release the same way, or move to Shield or Studio for ongoing coverage across everything you release.
